Twitter can’t believe that Shahid Afridi called it quits to international cricket

Finally announcing his retirement from the international cricket this time, Pakistan’s fiery all-rounder Shahid Afridi is doing rounds on social media. It seems social media is unable to digest Afridi’s retirement as he has retired many times only to make a comeback many a time in the past.

Shahid Afridi holds the record of two of the fastest One Day International hundreds. He will also be remembered for his heroics in the semis and finals of the 2009 T20I WC.

Afridi, who still remains 36, probably will only focus on franchisee leagues.

In an unanticipated move, Afridi has put an end to his 21-year-old career with this announcement. It is quite noteworthy that he had already quit Tests in 2010 and ODI cricket after the 2015 World Cup but had still acted as a captain of Pakistan Twenty20 team at the 2016 world championships in India.

Announcing his retirement Afridi said, “I have said goodbye to international cricket.” He is currently playing in the ongoing Pakistan Super League and smashed 54 runs in 28-balls for Peshawar Zalmi in an encounter against Karachi Kings.
