From January 2019, You Can Travel To Bhopal In India’s First-Ever Engineless Train

This much-anticipated project will flag off in January 2019.

If you are planning to visit Bhopal anytime next year (after January to be precise) via Shatapdi, chances are you will get to travel by India’s ambitious engineless train named Train-18 (the number in the name refers to the year of manufacture). The fare will remain unchanged.

The train, which is a part of ‘Make-In-India’ project, will run at 160 km per hour and reduce the travel time by three hours. So, now you can cover Delhi to Bhopal in just five hours instead of eight. It will have a stainless steel body.

Till Train-18 happened to the Indian Railways, engineless trains were restricted to only metros and suburban travels. According to a report published in the Times Of India, the train is being manufactured at the Integral Coach Factory in Chennai.

The first train will have 16 chair-car coaches including executive and non-executive chair cars. The executive chair cars will have 56 seats and the non-executive one will have a seating capacity of 78. The test speed of the train will be 180km per hour. In Train-18, there will be no need of engine reversal as driver’s cabin will be at both ends.

This much-anticipated project will flag off in January 2019.
