Though there is no known cure for the disease, medical science has offered a number of medicines as the reliever to headache. But don’t forget! It’s always better to get rid of any such disease naturally. Here we share 5 home remedies that can treat the disease.

Apple Cider Vinegar: Can be defined as a nutritional powerhouse, apple cider vinegar helps to maintain the body’s acid-alkaline balance.

How to consume: Take one tablespoon of organic apple cider vinegar, one glass of water and one tablespoon of honey. Mix all ingredients.

Dosage: Consume it twice in a day to prevent as well as treat migraines. However, if you don’t want to consume it, taking steam from this liquid will also give relief from the pain. Mix equal quantities of water and apple cider vinegar, boil it. Inhale steam from it until the pain subsides.

Cayenne Pepper: This herb contains a natural painkiller ‘Capsaicin’, which is believed to bring headache relief by depleting Substance P, a neurotransmitter that helps send pain signals.

How to consume: Take one cup of warm water, one teaspoon of cayenne pepper, one teaspoon lemon juice, one teaspoon honey. Mix all ingredients. The natural medicine is ready to drink.

Dosage: Drink one cup as needed, it will surely give you relief from headache.

Ginger: This spice gives relief by blocking prostaglandins, which are chemicals that promote muscle contractions, impact hormones and regulate inflammation in blood vessels in the brain.

How to consume: You can simply chew a small piece of raw ginger or you can also consume it in tea. Drink ginger tea as and when needed.

Feverfew: This herb contains a compound called Parthenolide. This compound is believed to be effective in preventing inflammation and also neutralising prostaglandins that influence pain signals.

How to consume: Prepare an herbal tea by steeping one teaspoon each of dried peppermint and Feverfew leaves in a cup of hot water for 30 minutes.

Dosage: Drink this tea a few times until the pain subsides.

Peppermint: According to a study published in the 2008 International Journal of Neuroscience, the fragrance of this herb induces the feeling associated with headache relief.

How to consume: Drink peppermint tea with honey until the pain subsides.

Note: Migraine is usually confined to one side of the head and can last from four to 72 hours.
