10 Essential Dos & Don'ts If You Are Planning To Colour Your Hair

As much as we all love imagining ourselves all diva-like with gorgeous hair, things can get a bit confusing and time-consuming without a little help.

Have this absolutely ravishing image of yourself with fabulous coloured hair but in reality have no clue about the dos and don’ts? As much as we all love imagining ourselves all diva-like with gorgeous hair, things can get a bit confusing and time-consuming without a little help.

So here’s a list of hair colouring dos and don’ts for y’all, that could make your life a little easier.

Tip #1: DO remember to apply petroleum jelly on your forehead to prevent the colour from settling on your skin.

Tip #2: In case you don’t have the trusted petroleum jelly, use olive oil and toothpaste to remove dye stains from the skin. Mix a tsp of olive oil with whitening toothpaste and use a cotton ball to apply this on the stains.

Tip #3: Test your skin for sensitivity with the small patch formula.

Tip #4: Always DO have an honest conversation with your stylist about the condition, texture, colouring history of your hair and whether or not you should go for it.

Tip #5: Post hair-colouring, make conditioning a religious part of your hair care routine. In case you are worried about the frizziness, use a hair serum.

Tip #6: If you are in the mood for highlights and are colouring at home, use a toothbrush to get it right. The bristles help in subtle, uniform application.

Tip #7: Always have two handheld mirrors to your rescue coz colouring at the back can be the real task if you don’t have a loyal friend to hold the mirror for you.

Tip #8: If you want a quick remedy to hide the roots, apply an eyeshadow using a brush to touch it up. Not a soul can make that out we swear!

Tip #9: And if you plan to go swimming, apply coconut oil to protect the coloured hair.

Tip #10: Do not use a metal container to mix the hair colour and developer as it can react with the metal. So, always use a plastic spoon and a container for safe application.
