The incredible success of Aamir Khan’s wrestling biopic Dangal proves that Bollywood movies have a huge fan following in China. Despite the escalated tensions due to the recent Doklam standoff, the Chinese have not shied away from expressing their love for our films. Now, the latest video of a Chinese reporter singing a Hindi film song at the BRICS Summit has gone viral.
The member nations of BRICS, namely Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa met at Xiamen in China and agreed to a joint declaration to strengthen their cooperation and fight against terrorist organisations based in Pakistan. Meanwhile, Tang Yuangai, who is employed with the Hindi service department of the China Radio International, took everyone by surprise when she crooned popular song Aa Ja Re O Mere Dilbar from the film Noorie. The reason why the video became popular was due to the fact that Tang sang in a clear accent and seems that she had a good command over the language.
According to reports, Tang said her Hindi name was Sapna and that she loved India and its people. She learnt Hindi at the Beijing University and also studied at the Delhi University.
