Remove pictures of PM, CM and other leaders from hoardings in poll bound states: ECI

It also mentioned that there would be no objection if any person wants to put hoarding of a particular political party on his private property.

Ahead of the assembly polls in 5 states, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has instructed the electoral officers of all the 5 poll-bound states to remove or cover the pictures of all the political leaders from the hoardings put for promotions. As learned from the media reports, the poll panel has been asked to remove or cover, especially, the pictures of the Prime Minister, Chief Minister and other important or influential leader from the hoarding/posters.

On January 8, the EC asked the candidates to submit No Objection Certificate (NOC) obtained from the property owner to district poll officials. It also mentioned that there would be no objection if any person wants to put hoarding of a particular political party on his private property but the cost behind the poster or hoarding will be added to candidate’s expenditure list.

ECI instructs Chief Electoral Officers of 5 poll bound states that photos of political leaders in all hoardings,ads shld be removed/covered.

On January 4, the Election Commission of India announced the dates for the upcoming set of state assembly elections all the five states, which is Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Manipur, Uttarakhand, and Goa.

The polling will commence from February 4 with states Punjab and goa. The counting day is set for 11 March for all states.
