Here’s why Tehseen Poonawalla has written a letter to PM Narendra Modi on Chinese troops in PoK

"This is to draw your attention towards the construction activity being undertaken by Pakistan and China in PoK," wrote Tehseen Poonawalla.

Political analyst Tehseen Poonawalla has written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi to draw his attention towards the construction activity being undertaken by Pakistan and China in Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. He also stated that “Pakistan has joined hands with China and has allowed Chinese army into Pak Occupied Kashmir, which is a violation of all agreements and treaties.”

Here’s what Tehseen Poonawalla wrote in his letter to the PM:

“This is to draw your attention towards the construction activity being undertaken by Pakistan and China in the Gilgit Baltistan region of Pakistan Occupied Kashmir. I am sure that you would be aware that the said construction is being undertaken by full deployment of Military Forces of both Pakistan and China and the same is a grave and imminent threat to the Sovereignty of our great Republic.

Sir, as you would be aware that the Gilgit-Baltistan area is an integral part of iur great Republic and therefore any activity construction or military being undertaken by a foreign nation is an attack on sovereignty of India and seriously compromises our nationalistic credentials and safety.

Sir, it is pertinent here to remind you that the signing of the Instrument of Accession by Maharaja Hari Singh in October 1947 resulted in the entire princely state of Jammu and Kashmir becoming an integral part of India including the Pakistan occupied Kashmir. Further, the Parliament of India on February 22, 1994 passed a resolution affirming that including the Pakistan Occupied Kashmir is an integral part of our Republic and Pakistan must vacate the areas of the Indian state of Jammu and Kashmir, which they have occupied through aggression. Instead now, Pakistan has joined hands with China and has allowed Chinese army into Pak Occupied Kashmir, which is a violation of all agreements and treaties. Furthermore the Chinese army stationed in PoK is a serious and grave threat to our great nation. Sir, you being the elected head of the Government, it is your duty to protect and preserve the sovereignty and integrity of the Nation. Your silence on this issue points towards your failure to uphold our sovereignty.

It is a cause of grave concern that the Government of India under your leadership has been silent on the same and with few exceptions of feeble attempts towards opposing the construction activity not much has been done.

Sir, it is high time that your Government undertake some serious action and raise the issue at international level including and not limited to United Nations Organisation and should also undertake deployment of our military forces to ensure that no infiltration takes place.

Failure on your part to undertake such serious diplomatic exercise would reflect a serious foreign policy failure. The inaction on your part will further weaken your nationalistic credentials and will betray the nationalistic stand taken by your government while taking actions against students and activist alike. It will seem to the nation that all slogans of nationalism are mere political slogans or “Jumlas” and hold no real value at all. Further, if the said ause of concern is not resolved urgently the same will compromise our sovereignty and I will be considered to approach the Hon’ble Supreme Court to direct your government on this issue.”

Last year, after a number of frequent incursions in Ladakh area, Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) troops were spotted at forward posts along the Line of Control (LoC) on the Pakistani side of Kashmir. bThere were reports that the Army had spotted the presence of senior PLA officials at the forward posts opposite Nowgam sector in North Kashmir.

The PLA troops were first spotted in the later half of 2015 as well as opposite Tangdhar sector, where Chinese government-owned China Gezhouba Group Company Limited has been building a Jhelum-Neelum 970 MW Hydel power project.
