Woman drags man by the collar to police station after he makes lewd gestures at her

The incident took place when the woman was waiting for a train at platform number 1 of Kalyan Railway station

Every day, a number of women face eve-teasing in public places and many stand up to fight against the wrong. In a similar incident that took place in Mumbai, a woman grabbed the eve-teaser by the collar and took him to the police station as he made lewd gestures at her.

In the statement to the police, the woman said, “I was waiting for a train and the man kept staring at me. When our eyes met, he winked at me and made lewd gestures. I ignored him a few times. But when he continued doing it, I could not take it anymore”.

The incident took place when the woman was waiting for a train at platform number 1 of Kalyan Railway station. Later the accused, who has been identified as Surendra Lalbahadur Gautam (30), was arrested by the police. Gautam who is a resident of Pisavali in Kalyan hails from Jaunpur in Uttar Pradesh.

On noticing the ruckus, many bystanders joined and thrashed the accused. The woman took the accused to Kalyan Government Railway Police (GRP) and the case has been registered against him under section 354 (outraging the modesty of a woman by word or gesture) of the Indian Penal Code.

A police officer from Kalyan government Railway police (GRP), “We have registered a molestation case against the accused. We have seen the video which has gone viral. The accused is in police custody and under investigation”.
