Kolkata-based startup is helping people find parking spaces. Here’s what you should know about it

Finding parking spaces near markets and overcrowded malls can be troublesome, especially if you are living in a metropolitan city. But thanks to a Kolkata-based startup this is about to change. Park 24×7 is a smartphone application that connects the drivers in search of parking spaces with people who have space to spare. This includes stores, garages and even private garages.

The app claims to be ‘India’s best parking app’, which helps the drivers to find the unused parking spaces of hospitals, hotels, schools, pubs and public parking spaces from its platform and save time. Customers can even reserve a space hours before their time of arrival and pay the rent using credit or debit card, net-banking or e-wallets.

How does the app work
The app is rather simple to use. You can either find a parking space in real time or you can pre-book your space.

Avishek Tarafdar, Founder and CEO of Park 24×7 told PTI in a statement,

Once you reach the spot, a four-digit OTP (One-time password) sent to your personal parking portal can be used to check in and check out.

The car registration number serves as the ticket for booking a spot. Users can scan the QR code from the parking sign of the parking space using the QR code scanner of their smartphones, which would then redirect their mobile website to the page where the car number and duration of parking have to be entered. The price would be calculated automatically based on the rates of that particular zone and the fee usually varies between Rs 20 for an hour to Rs 100 for a day.

What are the key features of the app
The app is offering bookable parking spaces across five metropolitan cities in India including Kolkata, Mumbai, Bangalore, Ranchi and Bhubaneswar. Some of the key features of the app are:

Over 600 bookable parking spaces across 5 cities in India.
Up to 70 percent cheaper fares.
Earning by listing your parking space for free.
Extend parking bookings.
Easy access to parking spaces using simple directions.

The app is currently available for the Android operating system only. However, the company is planning to launch an iOS version soon. In addition to this, 24×7 app is also managing the parking at various upcoming events including Indian Super League and Timeout 72 featuring Wiz Khalifa at Goa.
