Unable to improve family’s financial condition because of repeated crop failure, 40-year-old Suresh Yadav took up a shovel and found diamond worth Rs 15 lakh in a field in Panna.

As per a report in the Times of India, Suresh Yadav said, “I was not able to improve my family’s financial condition through farming, which is now a difficult profession because of erratic weather conditions. Last year, I handed over my small farmland to my son and decided to take a mine on lease in Pati Krishna Kalyanpura to try my luck”.

In case, you too want to look for diamonds, you need to have Rs 250. With the permission of district administration, anyone can take an 8mx8m shallow mine on lease for a mere Rs 250 a year and can start their search for diamonds.

As Yadav knew that apart from looking for sparkles, he had to feed his family, he used to work as a farm labourer during the day and dig for diamonds in morning and evening hours.

His hard work paid off when one day he dug out 5.82 carat diamond. Experts who have taken a look of it said that the diamond would cost around Rs 15 to Rs 20 lakh. District mining officer Santosh Singh said, “Experts have valued Suresh’s diamond as of good quality. It will be auctioned according to government norms.”

Once a person finds out a diamond it is deposited with the ‘district diamond officer’ in Panna. The official puta that on an auction. After the auction the state gets 11.5% of the price, while the remaning is given to the one who found it.
