5 days on, World's heaviest woman Eman Ahmed loses 30 kg , blows kisses to doctors

Eman Ahmed, the 500 kg Egyptian woman who hogged national attention for being shockingly overweight, has lost 30 kg in just five days since her arrival to India. Her condition has improved with better limb mobility and an eight-hour sleep cycle. She can now even blow kisses to her doctors,

Believed to be world’s heaviest woman, Eman is being treated at Mumbai’s Saifee hospital or sleep apnea, hypothyroid, diabetes, hypertension, kidney problems, fluid retention and most importantly obesity.

Hailing from Alexandrai in Egypt, Eman has thanked doctors and government of India for their effort to get her treated.The 36-year-old woman will undergo a weight loss surgery for a period of three years at the Mumbai hospital.

Eman has been put on a high protein and fibre diet to systematically bring downher weight. Doctors have aimed to reduce Eman’s weight by 200 kg in 2017.

“We need to get her in shape (for the surgery). The operation table can take the weight of 450 kg but the width of the elevator is only 141 cm. Eman is currently 151 cm (in width),” Dr Muffazal Lakdawala, the bariatric surgeon who is treating Eman, told Indian Express.

In a video message from her special 1,000 sqft medical facility, Eman, who struggles to speak coherently, expressed her gratitude, saying she feels the difference between India and Egypt and she feels much better here.
