Exclusive: Malang has Sanjay Dutt in a never seen before romantic avatar, promise Omung Kumar and Aarambhh Singh

Sanjay Dutt will be seen in a different role in his upcoming movie Malang, that is produced by Oumung Kumar and directed by Aarambh Singh

Sanjay Dutt has signed Malang a romantic thriller that is directed by Aarambhh Singh, a debutant director. What is common between Bhoomi, Sanjay Dutt’s upcoming movie and Malang, is that the former is directed by Omung Kumar and the latter produced by him. Ask him about this consecutive association with Sanjay Dutt and Omung says it is because of the trust they have on each other. Heaping praises on the 57-year-old star, Omung said he just went with the flow and did not have any qualms in giving a chance to a debutant director.

By signing up for Malang, Sanjay Dutt has broken his hiatus from this genre. Speaking to InUth, Omung said Sanjay Dutt liked the idea after the first narration itself. He said this love story is not completely dark but had shades of grey. “Sanjay Dutt plays his age in the movie and it is a kind of love story that has never been seen before,” Omung said.

From directing Sanjay Dutt in Bhoomi to being a producer in Malang, Omung said his relationship has evolved. “He gels very well, he is part of the story,” Omung added. So, does the Sarbjit director feel any kind of pressure in delivering a hit with Bhoomi since it is Sanjay’s come back? “The feeling is same as before any other release. There is pressure, of course. No one wants to make a movie that doesn’t perform well at the Box Office. But I am hoping things turn out to be great,” an optimistic Omung said.

The optimism feeling that Omung has is shared by Aarambhh too. In a conversation with InUth, Aarambhh said he wanted to give his everything to his first movie. When asked about how he approached Sanjay Dutt for the role, Aarambhh said, “I was the Assistant Director in Bhoomi as well and I shared a nice bond. So one day, he told me to narrate what interesting thing I have. When he heard it, he said he said I am on it. For him at this juncture, to give a chance to a debutant director was a huge thing. He was sceptical but he just believes in going with the script. This is a story of a CBI cop and a guy who is looking for love.”

When questioned about whom he is planning to cast as the lead actress, Aarambhh said they will arrive at the decision in a month or so. On probed what led him to choose Sanjay Dutt, Aarambhh said, “Honestly, there are a thousand things. The charisma that he has as a person. His eyes do all the performance. It were his eyes that convinced me to get him on board.”

Is Aarambhh nervous about his first movie? He says he cannot deny that he is. “But you know established filmmakers believe that being a little nervous is important as it makes you prepared”, Aarambhh said.
