BMC Election Results 2017: Shiv Sena emerges No 1

The counting of votes in 227 municipal wards in Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation are underway. Going by the latest trends, Uddhav Thackeray-led Shiv Sena is emerging as the largest party since it has already won 59 seats till now and is leading on 34 seats, while BJP has so far won 35 seats and is leading in 40 seats. This is for the first time in two decades that Shiv Sena and BJP fought the BMC polls separately. BMC Election Results 2017: Sanjay Nirupam offers resignation

Amid the ongoing poll-counting of the Municipal Corporation polls across Maharashtra, the Mumbai Regional Congress Committee chairman Sanjay Nirupam has submitted his resignation. Taking the entire responsibility of party’s poor show in the Brihanmumbai Municipality Corporation elections, Nirupam decided to step down from his post on February 23. Read Here
