Missing Russian military plane with 91 onboard crashes over black Sea

The plane took off in Sochi had over 90 passengers on board.

A Russian Military aircraft Tu-154 that disappeared from radars after taking off from Sochi on December 25 has crashed into the Black sea. A body has been found in the sea after plane crash, AFP reports suggest.

The plane was on its way to Latakia in Syria.

As per reports, the Russian Defense Ministry confirmed in a statement that there were 91 people on board that includes 83 passengers and 8 crew members.

The ministry further confirmed that the plane that took off from Sochi Adler Airport failed to check in with the control tower at 5:40 am Moscow time. Also, search for the missing plane has begun and all the rescue services have been positioned.

According to RIA, the missing Tu-154 arrived in Sochi from Chkalovsky airfield near Moscow for refueling. The plane disappeared from radar approximately 20 minutes after takeoff.
