Donald Trump beats PM Modi; becomes TIME’s Person of the Year 2016

Hillary Clinton was the finalist No.2

United States President-elect Donald Trump was announced the TIME’s Person of the Year 2016 on Wednesday.

He went on to defeat 10 other shortlisted candidates for the 2016 Person of the Year including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, UK Independence Party leader Nigel Farage.

Donald Trump’s unanticipated victory over her rival Hillary Trump took the world by storm. The entire election campaign still remains the subject of conversation even a month after the elections came to an end. Some still get out on the streets to protest against Donald Trump election to the presidency.

Whereas, Hillary Clinton who was also among the shortlisted candidates, won the popular voted despite loosing the US presidential election. While Trump went on to win Trump 306 electoral votes. If reports are to be believed, Hillary Clinton was the finalist No. 2.

Either ways, Trump has still managed to emerge as the most influential person of the year.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel was named TIME’s person of the year 2015 which Trump was declared TIME’s Person of the Year runner-up in 2015.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi had won the TIME Person of the Year 2016, the online reader’s poll earlier this week. He won 18 percent of the votes. PM Modi
