Are you a Muslim? Son of Muhammad Ali detained for two hours at Florida airport

Mancini said officials quizzed Ali Jr. for nearly two hours, repeatedly asking him, "Where did you get your name from?" and "Are you Muslim?"

The son of late legendary boxer Muhammad Ali was reportedly detained at an airport in Florida for two hours by US immigration officials.

Muhammad Ali Jr. and his mother Khalilah Camacho-Ali, the second wife of Muhammad Ali, were arriving at Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International airport from a Black History Month event in Jamaica on Feb. 7 when they were pulled aside by customs and questioned over their Muslim name, US today quoted his lawyer and family friend Chris Mancini.

Officials allowed Camacho-Ali to go after she showed them a photograph of herself with her ex-husband, but her son did not have such a photo.

Mancini said officials quizzed Ali Jr. for nearly two hours, repeatedly asking him, “Where did you get your name from?” and “Are you Muslim?”

He was very shook up about it. He has never been treated like this before,” attorney Chris Mancini told Russia Times. “He didn’t know what was going on, and asked [immigration], ‘Why are you doing this? My father is Muhammad Ali’ and they just didn’t seem to give a crap.”

“He sat there for two hours, and then they let him go,” Mancini added.
