WhatsApp introduces video-calling, here’s how you can get it

Time to upgrade your WhatsApp messenger!

WhatsApp is one of the biggest and the most popular social messaging platforms in the world. And after introducing voice-calling feature last year, the company is finally rolling out one of the biggest updates to its platforms. Any guesses?

According to recent reports, WhatsApp is now rolling out video-calling feature for its Android users. However, there’s a catch. As of now, the feature is available only for the Android users with beta version of the app. To use the video-calling feature, simply tap on the calling button and if you happen to be one of the lucky ones, you will get a dialog box asking you to choose between voice-call and video-call, on your screen. Furthermore, if you have made a video call, the call log section will show a camera icon instead of a telephone icon.

The downside is that there is no mode of calling WhatsApp users who don’t have support for the video-calling feature yet.

Interestingly, WhatsApp rolled out its voice-calling feature in a similar fashion last year. The feature was available for testing on Android months before it was rolled out globally.

For all we know, video-calling might be WhatsApp’s Christmas present to its users!
