Here’s a ‘smart hairbrush’ that will reveal the quality of your hair!

It's time to get smarter with the technology and ditch your hairbrush for a smart hairbrush

\]Technology today is evolving at a steady pace. From ‘smart cars’ to ‘smart shoes’, machines are getting smarter and everything is coming with a set of sensors that are designed to give you a personalised experience. The extent of the smartness of the technology can be determined by the fact that devices powering an entire home with the ‘smart technology’ have already taken over the consumer electronics space. So, does this mean that we want our toasters and toothbrushes to be smart as well? Why not!

Taking machine smartness to a whole new level is a smart hair-brush– Kérastase Hair Coach, that can reveal how healthy your hair are. No, we’re not kidding. For the fashionistas who swear by their beauty rituals, L’Oreal in collaboration with Kérastase, a high-end hair product brand of L’Oreal, and Nokia-owned Withings is coming up with a smart hairbrush that uses inputs from multiple sensors to provide information on the quality of your hair and brushing patterns.

The smart hair-brush uses multiple sensors– an accelerometer and a gyroscope to analyze brushing patterns and count brush strokes, a conductivity sensor to determine if the brush is being used on dry or wet hair, 3-axis load cells to measure the force applied to the hair and the scalp while brushing and a microphone that listens to the sound of hair brushing to give insights into manageability, frizziness, dryness, split ends and breakage. These sensors connect to a smartphone app via Wi-Fi or Bluetooth to give a detailed feedback on the quality of your hair.

If you’re thinking that with the amount of information it provides, it’s better than visiting your stylist every month? Maybe not so much. Though the company has not revealed the official price yet, it’s expected to cost under $200 (Rs 13,600 approx). Kérastase Hair Coach will be available for sale in mid-2017, so you have ample time to figure out if you want a hands-on experience or not!
