Foodpanda launches food delivery service for partner restaurants

Foodpanda is expanding its services and it will now provide third party logistic services to its restaurant partners across major cities in India including Delhi, Mumbai and Bengaluru

Good news folks! Online food ordering and delivery website Food Panda is expanding its services and it will now provide third party logistic services to its restaurant partners across major cities in India. As a part of the initiative, restaurants across major cities in the country including Delhi, Bengaluru and Pune will be able to use Foodpanda’s delivery services even if their orders have not come through its platform.

Foodpanda had launched a pilot project three months and the service is now available across cities including– Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad and Gurugram. The initiative is aimed at increasing the efficiency of the company’s on-ground fleet and strengthening its ecosystem.

“With our new delivery product offering, we intend to be a significant support system for our partners by easing the hassle of delivery for them and extend best-in-class service levels to more customers,” Foodpanda India CEO Saurabh Kochhar said in a statement to PTI.

Over 500 restaurants have partnered with Foodpanda as a part of the project and the company plans to reach around 1,500 restaurants in the coming three months. To recall, Foodpanda launched its own food delivery arm in India back in 2015. The company will now be providing its delivery service to other restaurants on a need to need basis.

Foodpanda competes with delivery services like Zomato and Swiggy in India which so far have maintained a lead in the food delivery sector. Reports suggest that Zomato is also working to acquire Bengaluru-based last-mile startup Runnr. Apart from this, Foodpanda is also competing with US-based cab aggregator Uber, which launched its on-demand food delivery service UberEATS in India last month. Even though its service is live only in Mumbai, the company soon plans to expand its services to other major cities in India soon
