In an old episode of Rendezvous with Simi Grewal, the leader glowing in a pink-saree, blushed talking about her crushes and her favourite films. Simi Grewal, the graceful anchor of the show who always brought the best out of her interviewees, goaded her into singing the song, “Aaja sanam madhur chandni me hum“. And God, she sang beautifully. She indeed has a lovely voice.
Wondering who was her favourite actor? It was none other than Shammi Kapoor. She said that after all those years, Kapoor’s film Janglee continued to enthrall her. She also admits to having a “great crush” on the cricketer Naari Contractor. “I used to go to watch test cricket just to see him”.
