‘Not mandatory to stand up during national anthem’, says SC, Twitter divided

Supreme Court, in its latest ruling, states it is not mandatory to stand up during the national anthem in cinema halls, Twitter reacts.

The Supreme Court’s latest order, which rules that it isn’t mandatory to stand up during the national anthem while it’s being played in cinema halls, has led to a debate on Twitter. In November last year, the SC ruled that all cinema halls must play national anthem before the movie starts and also that people “are duty-bound to show respect to the national anthem which is the symbol of the constitutional patriotism.”

With the latest decision of the Supreme Court, the Twitter is divided in opinion and on one hand people are defending court’s decision and on the other, some of them are furious because doing otherwise would be ‘anti-national’. Apparently, making it a choice to stand up during the national anthem amounts to disrespect.  Then there are others who think ‘it is best to abolish the decision of playing the national anthem in cinemas, in first place.”

Real Indians never sit because there might be national anthem playing somewhere at any time in India. #NationalAnthem #TruePatriots
