Indian Open Super Series 2017 Finals: PV Sindhu, Carolina Marin have met nine times, Carolina holding the edge 5-3, this will be their tenth encounter

Well, they have called it the ‘clash of titans’, and rightly so, the run and growth the two badminton players have shown in the recent past, be it PV Sindhu or Carolina Marin. They are at the top of their powers and game. Today is Sunday, and they will be locking horns again, PV Sindhu would be carrying the hopes of a billion and Carolina Marin will look to continue her dominance over India’s new badminton star.

In the past they have met nine times, Carolina holding the edge 5-3, this will be their tenth encounter. But this time Marin will be playing against Sindhu and 1.3 billion Indian fans as well.

Why Sindhu will win:

Sindhu has been in red hot form after a deadly Quarter finals against her country-mate Saina Nehwal and then she was stretched in a three-setter in the semis, which means her body is well-oiled ahead of the finals.

Last time they met in an international after the Olympics was in Dubai, where Marin was carrying an injury and lost the match to Sindhu. But then again they met in the franchisee Premier Badminton League in India, where Marin  upstaged the Indian and won it. Hence, Marin also has the advantage of defeating Sindhu in her own den, that means Marin will start outright favourite to win the tournament.
