Asian Games 2018: 19-Year-Old Lakshay Sheoran Wins Silver Medal In Trap Shooting

India's Lakshay finished with silver with 43 out of 50 targets

Lakshay Sheoran gives India its fourth medal at the ongoing Asian Games 2018 in Jakarta. The 19-year-old won the silver medal in men’s trap shooting finals.

Chinese Taipei’s Yang, who is just 20-year-old, bagged the gold medal (48 out of 50 shots) and India’s Lakshay finished with silver (43 out of 50 targets).

This is India’s second silver medal.

Earlier, India started day 2 with a bang as Indian shooter Deepak Kumar handed India it’s third medal. He claimed the silver medal in men’s 10m air rifle event.

Deepak shot 247.7 to finish second on the podium behind China’s Haoran Yang, who won the top prize with a Games record 249.1.

India’s overall medal tally now stands at 4.

On August 19, shooters Apurvi Chandela and Ravi Kumar bagged the first medals for India. They won a bronze medal on the opening day of the 18th Asian Games in Jakarta.

Chandela and Ravi bagged bronze in the 10m Air Rifle Mixed Team event. The Indian pair scored 429.9 in the final round to finish on the podium.

Later, wrestler Bajrang Punia won India’s first gold medal after he defeated Daichi Takatani of Japan 11-8 in the men’s freestyle 65-kg category final match. It was Bajrang’s second successive gold medal at the Asian Games after his triumph in Incheon 2014 in the 61-kg category.
