Mohammad Hafeez posts a motivational message after ICC terms his bowling action as ‘illegal’

Mohammad Hafeez finds support on Twitter after being suspended by ICC once again for his bowling action

Pakistan all-rounder Mohammad Hafeez has vowed to serve his beloved country after International Cricket Council (ICC) found his bowling action to be illegal. Hafeez’s bowling action was termed ‘illegal’ for the third time in three years. The off-spinner from Pakistan was reported for his bowling action after the third ODI against Sri Lanka in October. He is currently ranked first in the ICC ODI all-rounder rankings.

Post his suspension, Hafeez took to Twitter and promised to make a comeback after ‘remodelling’ his bowling action. Also, he wants to retain the No.1 all rounder position in the world.

Here’s what Hafeez tweeted:

Saddened to know the result of my bowling action from ICC , it would never pull me down , wil never give up , worked so hard to remodelled it & wil work again twice harder to get better to serve my beloved country Pakistan & Achieve MORE #NO1allrounder

Dear #ICC its unfair with our bowlers asusual , we lost @REALsaeedajmal and now @MHafeez22 who was doing so far brilliant since 2010-11 please dont behave like ICC = Indian cricket council @BCCI

Yes you need to work hard..
Instead of blaming ICC we should do our 100 %
Pakistani players have a good image in cricket world. Don’t ruin it like Saeed Ajmal did with ( ICC rules are only for Pakistani players)

Here’s ICC’s explanation to Hafeez’s suspended bowling action.

In accordance with Article 11.1 of the ICC Illegal Bowling Regulations, Hafeez’s international suspension will also be recognised and enforced by all National Cricket Federations for domestic cricket events played in their own jurisdiction. However, pursuant to Article 11.5 of the Regulations and with the consent of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), Hafeez may be able to bowl in domestic cricket events played under the auspices of the PCB.

The 37-year-old has skipped Bangladesh Premier League (BPL) 2017 to focus on his action.

I will focus on why my action has been reported again and sort things out. For me, the coming tour to New Zealand and the Pakistan Super League are very important. There is a lot of cricket coming up with the national team next year.

It will be interesting to see whether Hafeez, who is currently ranked first in the ICC ODI all-rounder rankings, bowls in Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2018 for Peshawar Zalmi or not. The PSL 2018 is scheduled to start on February 23. However, Hafeez is free to reapply with a reworked bowling action.
