IPL 2017 SRH v KKR: From Virat Kohli to Virender Sehwag, all hail David Warner’s ‘fast & furious’ ton!

After hitting 8 sixes and 11 fours, the SRH skipper scored his first ton off 41 balls in this season of IPL

After watching a disappointing downfall of Delhi Daredevils against Kings XI Punjab, Sunrises Hyderabad skipper David Warner thoroughly entertained the crowd with his destructive batting performance on April 30. Not only he thrashed the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) bowlers with his bat but also scored his first century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 10 and became the highest run-getter of this season.

In the game 37, Kolkata skipper won the toss at Rajiv Gandhi International stadium in Hyderabad and invited the Hyderabadi orange army to bat first. Warner along with Shikhar Dhawan came in to bat while both of them were pretty confident as after a long time they were playing at their home ground. Warner started charging KKR bowlers right from the beginning while Dhawan anchored the partnership from the other end. The opening pair added 79 runs in the power play where Warner’s share of runs was much more than Dhawan’s as the skipper had already hit a half-century in 20 balls.

Warner didn’t just stop there but continued his streak hitting shots all across the ground. He was in full mood to score more and more as the way he was thrashing the bowlers was phenomenal. Meanwhile, Warner got a lifeline when Chris Woakes dropped his catch in the deep. After that moment, Warner turned furious as he started playing higher shots in the air.

After hitting 8 sixes and 7 fours, the SRH skipper scored his first ton off 43 balls in this season of IPL and surpassed Gautam Gambhir in terms of highest run scorer. His batting sting was totally enjoyable as he caused a typhoon in the stadium. After reaching the 100 runs milestone, Warner celebrated this feat in his style – jumping in the air with his helmet off and shouting loud in joy!

However, in the 17th over, Chris Woakes, who missed his catch, dismissed him after he had scored 126 runs off 59 balls and hit 8 sixes and 10 fours. Well, the Twitterati cherished this moment and what they expressed within 140 characters limit is worth reading.
