Indian U-20 Football Team Create History, Beat Argentina 2-1 In COTIF Cup 2018

Indian football fans including sports minister Rajyavardhan Singh Rathore took to Twitter to congratulate the young side

India’s U-20 team entered their name into the record books as they defeated the six-time U-20 World Cup champions Argentina 2-1 in their final match of COTIF Cup 2018 in Spain on early August 6.

For India, Deepak Tangri scored an early goal in the 4th minute to provide a lead in their last encounter of the tournament over a strong Argentine side.

During the 54th minute of the game, Aniket Jadhav was shown the red card and the India U-20 side were reduced to 10 men.

In the 68th minute, Anwar Ali converted freekick into the goal to provide 2-0 lead before Argentina pulled one back in the 72nd minute.

India clots held on to their nerves to safeguard their one-goal lead till the on-field referee called off play after being provided extra five-minute injury time.
