After Abhishek Bachchan, John Abraham, now Arjun Kapoor joins Indian Super League franchise as FC Pune City co-owner — WATCH

Kapoor was earlier brand ambassador of the club's women's team

It seems the football fever has caught on Bollywood star Arjun Kapoor who has become the co-owner of Indian Super League franchise FC Pune City. Bollywood biggies Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham already own teams Chennaiyan FC and North Eastern FC respectively in the domestic football league. With three weeks to go for the football season to start, Kapoor made the transition from being the brand ambassador of the club’s women’s team in the Indian Women’s League to becoming the co-owner. Arjun Kapoor’s fondness for the sport was pretty evident when he was a part of the All Stars FC who locked horns with Virat Kohli’s All Hearts FC.

“I love football and have grown up watching and playing the sport. I still actively play with my friends, who also are co-owners at various clubs in ISL,” Kapoor was quoted as saying in a press release sent by the club.

“What FC Pune City as a club is doing with football is tremendous and it seemed a natural fit for me to join them in their endeavour to develop a professional eco-system of football across Maharashtra. Our collective enthusiasm is in creating a special and aspirational football team,” he added.

The new season of the Indian Super League will start on November 17 with last season’s finalists Atletico de Kolkata and Kerala Blasters facing each other in the first game.
