Watch: MS Dhoni loses cool over Manish Pandey for not paying attention & it’s making Twitterati go ROFL

Twitterati are divided over whether MS Dhoni used cuss words for Manish Pandey in anger or otherwise

MS Dhoni losing his cool is something which we don’t often see on the field, let alone witness him abusing another player. The second T20I between India and South Africa saw Dhoni shouting at Pandey for not paying attention to him and looking elsewhere. In the last over of the match, Pandey took a single off the first ball bowled by Dane Paterson and brought Dhoni on strike.

Dhoni, who was taking the strike, wanted Pandey to look at him as he figured Pandey might not be able to hear his call for a quick run because of the crowd’s noise. He asked him to watch out for the signal.

Here’s what Dhoni said minus the cuss words – “Oye, Kidhar Dekh rha hai, Udhar Kha Dekh Rha hai”. Awaz Nhi Jaegi, Ishara Dekhio”.

Here’s the video that has been going viral –

In the Indian team, it is Virat Kohli who is often heard using expletives on the field either to motivate his players or show aggression. It was surprising to see Dhoni lose his cool like that.

Here’s how Twitterati reacted –

I will tell my Grandchildren that I was the Only Cricketer who got scolded by MS Dhoni.

Dear Haters, Dhoni didn’t use any abusive lang against Pandey. Its Dhoni’s hunger for that one extra run. Which the latter didn’t take cuz he wasn’t looking at him. One single run could’ve mattered. . Grow up! Just because he is Dhoni, doesn’t mean he can’t be irritated.#INDvSA

However, Dhoni channeled his anger by hitting the next ball for a six over the covers. He scored a total of 17 runs from five balls off the last over, including 2 fours and 1 six. He also completed his second T20I fifty.

After India’s top order collapse, Pandey-Dhoni took the mantle to further the innings and then launch an all out attack at the bowlers in death overs. They succeeded in doing that by getting India to a fighting total of 188 for 4. Pandey reached his second T20I fifty as well. He scored 79 runs from 48 deliveries, including 6 fours and 3 sixes.

But the target of 189 was not high enough as South Africa chased it down with ease with 8 balls to spare. Skipper JP Duminy and wicketkeeper-batsman Heinrich Klaasen scored fifties to dismantle Indian bowling lineup. Yuzvendra Chahal was on the receiving end who was picked off for 64 runs from his four-over spell.
