Virat Kohli led RCB will use RTM to retain me in IPL 2018 auction: Yuzvendra Chahal

Yuzvendra Chahal recently bagged the ICC T20I Performance of the Year 2017 for his 6-wicket haul in February 2017 against England

Star Indian wrist spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has stated that he is pretty confident of being retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) via Right to Match (RTM) in the forthcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2018 mega auctions. Recently, RCB announced the names of three players whom they retained for this season and they were Virat Kohli, AB de Villiers and Sarfaraz Khan. Despite being the leading T20I wicket-taker in 2017, Chahal was released but he believes that he will be back to the Challengers camp in this season too.

As reported by Times Now, Chahal, in an interview, said,

“I am not thinking too much about the retention. I have faith in RCB. They have still got the Right-To-Match card so I am 100 percent sure I am coming back to RCB. However, it also depends on how will it go at the auction.”

Chahal has been a part of the RCB squad since IPL 2014. He was the second highest wicket-taker (14 wickets) from his side after Pawan Negi (16 wickets). Moreover, he took 23 wickets from 11 matches he played in the year 2017 and turned out to be highest wicket-taker in the world in this calendar year.

Chahal is going to be a part of the Indian side in the upcoming ODI series against South Africa. When asked about the challenges he would be facing, he said:

“I have already played there [in South Africa] with the India A team but did not play in the main venues. I have seen the Test match wickets in South Africa (especially the second Test), it was completely different. The ball was spinning and keeping low in the second Test.”
