Is Sourav Ganguly being considered as next BCCI President?

Sourav is currently leading the Cricket Association of Bengal since Semptember 2015. And after attending two general meetings, one of the criteria needed to be followed to head the body, he has qualified for the top role.

Former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly’s name is doing the round as a strong contender to fill up the vacant post of president of the Board of Control For Cricket in India (BCCI) after Lt Anurag Thakur and secretary Ajay Shirke were sacked by the Supreme Court on January 2.

According to a Hindustan Times report, Ganguly’s name is topping the list of all favourable names suggested to take over as the BCCI President.

Sourav is currently leading the Cricket Association of Bengal since Semptember 2015. And after attending two general meetings, one of the criteria needed to be followed to head the body, he has qualified for the top role.

Moreover, anyone from the state cricket associations could be nominated for the post and with Sourav being the popular option, his chances are prevailing.

As of now, Central Zone’s vice-president C K Khanna is the senior most official in the BCCI. Apart from Ganguly, the names which have been coming up are Gautam Roy (East Zone Vice President) and T C Mathew (West Zone Vice President).

Sourav Ganguly was appointed as the CAB chief after the former BCCI and CAB chief Jagmohan Dalmiya departed.He was also a part of the Justice Mudgal Panel which investigated the IPL betting and match-fixing row in 2013.
