IPL 2018 Final: Shane Watson’s Record-Breaking Century Makes Twitterati Go Bonkers!

IPL 2018 Final, CSK vs SRH: Shane Watson scored his century in just 51 balls despite scoring no runs off the first 10 balls he faced during the run-chase

Chennai Super Kings (CSK) opener Shane Watson proved that he is a big game player with his second century of the season. Watson became only the second player to score a century in Indian Premier League (IPL) finals. Only Wriddhiman Saha has done it in the past while batting for Kings XI Punjab (KXIP). The Aussie reached his century in just 51 balls. He did not score a single run in the first 10 deliveries he faced from Bhuvneshwar Kumar, including giving a maiden over.

Watson made batting look easy after the powerplay overs. He reached his half-century in 33 balls. He took on the bowlers soon after, taking only 18 more deliveries to score the second half-century. His innings of 117 runs from 56 deliveries is the highest score by a batsman in an IPL final, surpassing Saha’s score of 115. He struck 11 fours and 8 sixes in his record-breaking innings.
