Kangana Ranaut made our heart skip a beat the moment she stepped out in a glamorous high-on-bling black saree by ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee

Be it her all-black airport appearance while leaving for Cannes 2018 or her much-awaited debut look at the prestigious event, Kangana Ranaut is the queen of quirk and style.

While everyone was super excited to see who/what the diva will be wearing in her maiden appearance at the Cannes Film Festival, it seems like Kangana already gave us a big hint.

Little did we know that she would choose a shimmery retro look for her Cannes debut from designer Sabyasachi’s collection, giving a throwback to the look sported by actresses like Mumtaz and Sharmila Tagore.

Kangana made our hearts skip a beat the moment she stepped out in a glamorous high-on-bling black saree, who described it as “Aakash-tara or starry skies”.

A post shared by Sabyasachi Mukherjee (@sabyasachiofficial) on

Explaining the beautiful work on the saree, Sabyasachi wrote: ”The saree is hand-dyed and embellished with hand-cut sequins that are individually sewn using zardosi technique, to create a metallic, yet fluid fabric.

Styled by Ami Patel, Kangana’s look was given a vintage retro vibe by going light on the make-up and heavy on the eyes with that winged eyeliner and a vintage back-combed faux bob hairstyle.

To complete her look, Kangana went for a Sabyasachi batua (purse) and teenmaniya choker necklace, crafted out of rose-cut diamonds, Colombian emeralds and Basra pearls from Sabyasachi’s heritage jewellery collection.

While the actress walked the venue like a boss, her vintage retro look was not only compared to that of Hollywood star Audrey Hepburn from Breakfast at Tiffany’s but also to Bollywood divas like Mumtaz and Sharmila Tagore.
