Unnao rape case: Accused’s brother pokes a needle into the victim’s eye after she refuses to withdraw case

In 2016, the 16-year-old rape victim, became pregnant following the assault and gave birth to a girl child at the Unnao district hospital.

In a shocking incident, a man, whose two brothers are in jail for allegedly raping a girl, attacked the victim with a big needle to make her blind. The man allegedly poked the needle into the left eye, while damaged the right one seriously in Unnao, Uttar Pradesh.

According to the police, the victim was attacked as she had refused to withdraw the rape case. The man has been identified as Puttan, who has been absconding after the incident. He was exerting pressure on the girl to withdraw the rape case filed against his brothers around a year back.

The police teams are making efforts to arrest Puttan. The victim was taken to LLR hospital in Kanpur but after seeing her condition, the cops have shifted her to a private hospital.

A case has been registered with police in Maakhi. The police has also taken the responsibility for the victim’s treatment. The girl was attacked when she was on her way to attend to nature’s call in a nearby field.

In a statement given to the police, the victim reportedly said that Puttan followed her and told her to withdraw the case. When she refused, he attacked her with a stick. He then tied a big needle on the tip of the stick and poked it in her eyes.

Ashok Singh, circle officer Safipur, said Puttan’s brothers were in jail and he was pressurising the woman to withdraw the case for a long time.
