Twitter blames BCCI after Anil Kumble steps down as Indian coach

Anil Kumble was appointed coach in June 2016 for a one-year term and was instantly successful. Under him, India won various test series.

Former Indian skipper Anil Kumble today stepped down from the post of India head coach. The development comes in the wake of alleged rift between Kumble and captain Virat Kohli and other team members. Notably, Kumble did not travel with the team from England to the West Indies for the limited-overs tour starting June 23 and decided to stay back in London to attend the International Cricket Council (ICC) meeting.

On the sidelines of the Champions Trophy in the UK, the Cricket Advisory Committee Sachin Tendulkar, VVS Laxman and Sourav Ganguly held meetings with Kumble as well as Kohli to sort out the differences between the duo. It was being widely perceived in the BCCI that in the meeting between Kohli and CAC, the skipper had made it clear that his relationship with the coach had reached a dead end.

According to an ANI report, Kumble said “he doesn’t want to continue with the team”. It is reported that he turned down the offer given to him by BCCI’s Cricket Advisory Committee (CAC) on Tuesday, which was Kumble’s last day as India head coach.

Kumble was appointed coach in June 2016 for a one-year term by the CAC and was instantly successful. Under him, India won Test series against West Indies, New Zealand, England, Bangladesh and Australia.

And he was being considered the front-runner for an extension till the 2019 World Cup, with Team India having won almost every series under him in the past one year.

Following the resignation, the Twitterati was irked and it suspected ‘internal politics’ for Kumble’s decision to quit from the post of head coach. Almost everyone took to Twitter to show their support for Anil Kumble. Here’s how they reacted.

Okay, Anil Kumble steps down as coach, but don’t consider twitter troll as a next coach. Yes, I’m talking about Virender Sehwag.

Anil kumble played with an broken jaw. That was his commitment_ level to the team. Current Indian players would have refused eyeing IPL.

4-7 feb 1999, Pakistan tour of India, 2nd test match at Firozashah Kotla stadium, Anil Kumble took all 10 wickets in an innings against PAK.

Virat stature has become bigger than cricket itself, forget Anil Kumble, dont think India needs any coach at all as long as he’s the captain pic.twitter.com/KwAA8MlhAQ

Don’t make Rahul Dravid as the coach of team India, if Kohli didn’t listen to Anil Kumble there is no way that he will listen to Dravid.

Remove captaincy from @imVkohli & make @msdhoni captain again.Anil Kumble’s resign as a coach is more horrifying than losing CT 17 final.
