To control crime, Agra men aged between 18-30 won’t be allowed to cover their faces in public

After recent spate of murders, Agra divisional commissioner has come out with this new plan.

After the recent incident of murders have rocked Agra, nearby Vrindavan-Mathura belt and has left the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) government in Uttar Pradesh red-faced, Agra divisional commissioner K Rammohan Rao has directed the administration to ensure that no men between 18 and 30 years of age cover their face in public.

According to an IndiaTimes report, the commissioner has said that even if it is very hot, no males would be allowed to cover their faces. Also, they should not wear a helmet while walking on the road. Women and girls have been exempted. The official believes that such people often commit crime.

Recently, in one murder case, two jewellers were shot dead by robbers who looted their showroom.

“I have no problem if women and elderly people cover their faces in public, but men should not be doing this, even in hot weather. They should also not wear helmet and walk on road. All the attackers in Mathura case had covered their faces,” said the commissioner reportedly

Treading with caution, the divisional commissioner promptly added that this was not a ‘Tughlaqi farman’ and DMs have asked to ensure monitoring of such “fellows”.

The officer believes that generally young men between the age group of 18 and 30 years are generally the people found committing robberies, chain snatching and other such crimes after covering their faces.

On May 15, two jewellers, Vikas and Megh Agarwal, were shot dead by six masked assailants who violently entered their shop in the Koylawali Gali, in the busy market area of Holi Gate, Mathura and decamped with ornaments worth around Rs 4 core.

On May 19, a prominent glass industrialist from Firozabad, Sanjay Mittal, was abducted in broad daylight from National Highway-2. However, after seven hours of the incident, the Firozabad police was able to rescue the industrialist from Tundla.
