Amazon is being accused of 'hurting the religious sentiments' of Hindus.

Global e-commerce giant Amazon has run into controversy for selling doormats with pictures of Hindu deities like Ganesha and Shiva on them which has allegedly ‘hurt the religious sentiments’. People are tweeting screenshots of the doormats that are up on sale on its platform after which #BoycottAmazon became one of the top trends.

Amazon, however, is yet to respond to the issue.

This is not the first instance when Amazon invited outrage over doormats. In June 2016, it was slammed for selling doormats with pictures of Hindu gods and goddesses after which it had to remove them from its portal. In January 2017, when Amazon Canada sold doormats depicting the Indian flag, the matter was taken up by External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj. She then asked the online retailer to withdraw the products and tender an unconditional apology. She even warned that none of its officials would get Indian visas if the company fails to apologise.
