Salman Khan advises people to drive safe, Twitter calls it a ‘perfect example of irony’

Salman Khan who was convicted of culpable homicide in 2015, after being found guilty in a 2002 hit-and-run case has advised youth to drive safely

Salman Khan recently launched his Being Human electric bicycle under the Being Human foundation. The price of the cycle will start from Rs 40,000 and go all up to Rs 57,000.

While speaking at the launch event, he was asked by the reporters to talk about how the youth should drive responsibly. To which he responded saying that he has come across a lot of people who are rash drivers and suggested that people should not consider roads as racing tracks adding that people should drive safely.

“I think cycles are okay but motorcycles are really dangerous for them (youth) and for other people around. We shoot in Film City, so I see on the highway people racing and recklessly. Back in the time, there used to be races at the reclamation, I lost a friend of mine. I am against that. If you want to race, do that on the racing tracks. Don’t use main roads and out yourself and others, who are travelling with you, in danger,” Indian Express quoted the actor as saying.

Social media users did not waste a minute to point out the irony behind the statement. What is the irony you ask? Salman Khan who himself is involved in a hit-and-run case preaching the youth about they should be driving safely is supremely ironic.

Here’s how Twitter poked fun at the actor for advising the youth on road safety when he is facing charges of culpable homicide.

Zakir naik preaches on peace, kejriwal preaches on corruption and now Salman preaches on road safety? Who needs comedy shows to laugh.

On September 2002, the Tubelight actor was arrested for rash and negligent driving after he crashed his car into a bakery in Mumbai killing one person and injuring others. In 2015, Khan was found guilty and awarded a 5-year jail term. However, later that year he was acquitted of all charges due to lack of evidence.
