In a proud moment for the Naga people, Manipur has got its first Naga lady pilot. Hailing from Manipur, Roveinai Poumai fought against generations of patriarchy in the Naga society and made a mark for herself in the society. Poumai belongs to the Poumai-Naga tribe in Manipur. She has been successful in securing a job with the Jet Airways.

She enrolled herself for the Commercial Pilot Course and graduated from the Basiar Aviation College in New South Wales, Australia. Poumai is the daughter of PD Sele Of Purul Rosofil, Sanapati district.

Just a few days back, Anny Divya had become the world’s youngest woman to command a Boeing 777. The 30-year-old from Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh. She got admitted to flying school Indira Gandhi Rashtriya Uran Akademi. She got a scholarship and completed her training at the age of 19. With a BSc in Aviation, she said: “All women should pursue their dreams.”
