Roadside Dhaba Outside BIT-Patna Gets A Facelift, Thanks To Institute’s 25 Students

The students used bottles, tyres and bulbs to transform the place

A couple of months back, students of Birla Institute of Technology (BIT)-Patna were in news for protesting against the university. They were protesting for the course approval from the Council of Architecture and institute recognition from University Grants Commission (UGC). And now, students from the university are back in news, albeit for an entirely different reason.

According to a report by The Times of India, at least 25 B.Tech (Bachelor of Engineering) and B.Arch (Bachelor of Architecture) students of the university recently gave a facelift to a small roadside eatery outside their campus.

Students used bottles, bulbs, tyres, canes and other commonly available waste products to restore the eatery called ‘Prakash Dhaba’ to its former glory. Apart from restoring the place, they also painted the walls, drew interesting caricatures and wrote quotes on the walls to draw everyone’s attention to the place which is famous for serving snacks like noodles, pakora, samosa, omelette and cutlet among others.

The report further suggests that the initiative for renovation was taken by two students– Shubham Kumar, who is a third-year B.Arch student and Aashish Aman, who is a third-year B.Tech student at the university. Together they started working on the project on Thursday, March 15. Soon, with the help of other volunteers, they renovated the eatery using graffiti and lights made of bottles and tins.
