Will chop off fingers raised against Modi: Nityanand Rai. 6 times BJP leaders went too far in Modi Bhakti

Since Narendra Modi became PM, BJP politicians have tried to impress him in a way that has turned out to be either hilarious or utterly ridiculous

Bihar BJP President Nityanand Rai who represents Ujiarpur constituency (Samastipur District) in Lok Sabha had some kind words for the detractors of PM Narendra Modi. Addressing a gathering of OBC community in Bihar, Nityanand said, “if any ‘finger or hand was raised’ against him, it would be broken or chopped off.”

Your own son rose out of poverty to become PM, regardless of differences everyone in the country should value it. If any hand or finger is raised against him (Modi), we should come together & break it & if need be even chop it off: Nityanand Rai, MP & Bihar BJP Chief (20.11.2017) pic.twitter.com/ILoXEEzMg0

Although, he apparently realised his mistake and apologised later, this is not the first time, BJP leaders have said or done anything so absurd. Since Narendra Modi became PM, several BJP politicians have tried to praise or impress him in a way that has turned out to be either outrageously hilarious or utterly ridiculous.

1. In October this year, when the PM visited Lord Manjunath temple in Karnataka, BJP MLA Aravind Limbavali had this to say, “Our Prime Minister left for the temple early in the morning and remained on empty stomach till he had the darshan. That is the difference between PM Modi and Mr Siddaramaiah (Karnataka CM)… Siddaramaiah went to the temple after eating fish,” as per the Financial Express report.

2. When veteran Congress leader, S M Krishna joined BJP last year, equating India with world superpowers he said, “Shri Narendra Modiji has given a new status to India.”

3.  On the occasion of PM Modi’s birthday, BJP national general secretary Kailash Vijayvargiya and  Rajya Sabha MP Rupa Ganguly, swept streets near Kalighat temple to observe Swacch Bharat Abhiyan, as per the Indian Express report. Mamata Banerjee lives on Kalighat’s Harish Chatterjee Street.

4. According to a Times of India report, BJP workers in Varanasi modified Durga Saptsati chant to ‘Yo Modi sarvabhuteshu, rashtrarupen sansthitah, namastasmay, namastasmay, namastasmay, namo namah’, during Navratri last year. It is only strange that the protectors of religion had nothing to say about this distortion!

5. Speaking to Rajat Sharma on Aap Ki Adaalat, BJP leader and actor Anupam Kher said, “I am better off being called a chamcha (sycophant/fan) of Narendra Modi, than a ‘balti’ of somebody else.”

6. Bihar deputy chief minister Sushil Modi went way ahead and dragged former BJP PM Atal Bihari Vajpayee to impress Modi. According to a Firstpost report, “During Vajpayee’s rule, there was dichotomy between government and party workers, while people were happy with Vajpayee government, BJP workers were unhappy. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has created a strong bond between party workers.”
