Former Chief Minister of Bihar and wife of RJD supremo Lalu Yadav, Rabri Devi created ripples in political corridors after she claimed that people want to see her son Tejashwi Yadav as chief minister of the state.
Rabri made the comment while responding to a question about growing clamour among his party to appoint Tejashwi as the new CM. Ahead of the state assembly budget session, when asked will Tejashwi be appointed as the CM of Bihar, she said “Janta ki maang hai (it is people’s demand).”
RJD the party that Tejashwi represents is the largest partner in the grand alliance with total number of 80 seats wheras Nitish Kumar’s JD(U) has 71 seats.
However, Rabri later clarified that her statement has been misconstrued as she made the statement of Tejashwi becoming next CM in context of 2020 assembly elections.
Rabri also said that current chief minister Nitish Kumar will be complete his office till his term gets over.
“Nitish Kumar is the leader of the Grand Alliance till 2020. What will happen in 2020 polls would be decided by people.” she added.
Reacting to the comment made by Rabri, JD(U) spokesperson Neeraj Kumar said the former chief minister is entitled to say whatever she wants to and everybody including Laloo Prasad and Rabri Devi are in agreement with Nitish being the CM of the state.
