A day after Bollywood singer Sonu Nigam sparked a controversy by his Twitter rant against ‘azaan’, the Shiv Sena today indirectly backed the singer and asserted that ‘noise pollution is a form of slow poisoning which should be stopped’.
“Whoever has tweeted is not important but talking on noise pollution and its effects on people is an important matter to be looked into. With the pollution increasing every day, noise pollution is like slow poisoning which should be looked into and stopped,” Shiv Sena MP Manisha Kayande said today.
Kayande further said that there should be no noise in the city from 10 pm to 6 am and the court should give strict orders on this.
A day before, Sonu Nigam landed himself in controversy after he took to Twitter to term the morning ‘azaan’ as “forced religiousness.”
God bless everyone. I’m not a Muslim and I have to be woken up by the Azaan in the morning. When will this forced religiousness end in India

Following this, the singer was trolled on the social media with few Bollywood celebs coming in support of him and few opposing his views.
