Meet BJP’s slum dweller MCD candidate who is a ‘Crorepati’

AAP accused Manoj Tiwari of betraying the cause of slum dwellers as well as Purvanchalis as he named crorepati Sunita Kaushik for MCD elections

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) attacked Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) State Unite Chief Manoj Tiwari after he named a “crorepati” candidate in the municipal corporation polls in Delhi (MCD) while projecting her to be “slum dweller”. Lashing out at him AAP said, “Tiwari has betrayed the cause of slum dwellers as well as Purvanchalis.”

In order to extend BJP’s reach, Manoj Tiwari named Sunita Kaushik as a BJP candidate after meeting her during one of his night stays at a slum.

The controversy erupted when Sunita Kaushik (candidate named by BJP) submitted affidavit to the State Election Commission along with her nomination. Sunita disclosed that she owned two buildings measuring 720 square feet and 553 square feet whose market price is Rs 50 lakh and Rs 32 lakh respectively and jewellery worth around Rs 90 lakh.

AAP Delhi unit convenor Dilip Pandey lashed out at Tiwari and alleged, “he gave a ticket to a crorepati by calling Sunita a slum dweller. He has played with the sentiments of slum dwellers and Purvanchalis.

Pandey further asserted, “We don’t object if an affluent candidate is named. But to call a plush house a slum dweller is making a mockery of them.”

“Jhuggi ke naam par drama kiya hai,” Pandey added.

According to reports, Sunita’s husband, Shashi Bhushan, also owns property worth Rs 10 lakh. The couple also possesses jewellery and bullion worth Rs 7 lakh. Her share in it is worth Rs 6 lakh.
