After facing defeat in the high voltage Municipal Corporation of Delhi (MCD) elections 2017, Delhi Congress Chief, Ajay Maken has offered to resign as the as the state’s party president. He has asserted that he has accepted the defeat and was now going to handover the resignation.

However, it is not yet clear whether his resignation would be accepted by the party leaders or not. “Take responsibility for the defeat and I am going to resign as Delhi Congress President,” he told the media. This comes after former Delhi Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit asserted that the Congress party should have Campaigned aggressively and that she did not campaign because she was not asked to do so.
