Amarinder Singh takes oath as Punjab CM, Navjot Singh Sidhu swears in as Cabinet

Amarinder Singh is all set to take charge as the CM of Punjab

Congress leader Captain Amarinder Singh on March 16 took oath as the Chief Minister of Punjab after registering a clear mandate in the Assembly elections. Cricketer turned politician Navjot Singh Sidhu who joined the party just a month ago took oath as the Cabinet Minister.

Congress Vice President, Rahul Gandhi and other Congress leader including Manmohan Singh is present at the oath taking ceremony. Speculations were rife that Navjot Singh Sidhu will be the Deputy chief minister of the state. Other cabinet ministers, including Manpreet Singh Badal also took oath along with Capt Amarinder Singh and Navjot Singh Sidhu.

This is the second time that Amarinder is going to take charge as the Chief Minister of Punjab. He earlier held the office from 2002 to 2007.

Expressing gratitude to the voters for voting for the Congress and ending a 10-year-old rule of the Badals in Punjab, Amarinder Singh had asserted that he would soon personally visit various district to thank the people for the masive win in the state. He had further said that he was aiming to “to revive the economic growth and restore the state to its original pristine glory”
