BJP worker misbehaves with female cop in presence of Keshav Prasad Maurya in UP. Watch video

Earlier, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Gorakhpur sparked a controversy for berating an IPS officer in his constituency.

Days after a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MLA from Gorakhpur sparked a controversy for berating an IPS officer in his constituency, after the police had attempted to remove anti-liquor protesters, another incident of hooliganism has surfaced from Azamgarh, in which a party worker can be seen misbehaving with a female cop in presence of Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya.

The incident happened when BJP workers started fighting among themselves during Maurya’s ‘Janta Darbar’. After a female cop tried to stop the fight, the party workers allegedly misbehaved with her. Apart from fight between the BJP workers, Maurya’s indifference to the incident was quite shocking.

He allegedly kept watching the entire incident as a mute spectator and did nothing to stop the people from taking the law into their own hands.

Ironically, lashing out at the cow vigilantes and party cadres Maurya had on May 9 said, “No one would be allowed to take law in their hands and they would be dealt with firmly.”

Ever since the BJP has come to power in Uttar Pradesh, there have been many incidents of BJP leaders or party members misbehaving with the police.

Last month, calling law and order a ‘serious issue’, former UP CM Akhilesh Yadav had said that a new colour saffron, wrapped around one’s neck, has become a licence to beat up policemen, go on the rampage inside a police station and vandalise vehicles in UP.

The former chief minister’s comments had come in the backdrop of right-wing activists beating up policemen in Agra and Saharanpur.

“In Kannauj, policemen were bashed up and people (wearing saffron scarves) in Agra clashed with the police. In Allahabad, four of a family were killed,” Yadav had claimed.
