National netball champion gets triple talaq for ‘giving birth to a girl’ 

The incident has come a day after a woman in UP filed a complaint against her husband who threatened her to give triple talaq after birth of a girl

There has been growing clamour to ban the triple talaq and everyday an incident related to this comes to light, now a woman from Amroha in Uttar Pradesh has alleged that her husband gave her a divorce after the birth of a girl child. Shyumla Javed, a national netball champion said her husband gave her triple talaq after she gave birth to a girl.

This incident has come a day after a woman in UP ‘s Sambhal filed a complaint against her husband who threatened her to give triple talaq soon and marry another woman after she gave birth to a girl. The woman in her complaint had said, “I got married four years ago and after eight months of my marriage, I came back home. They used to beat and harass me for dowry every day.

“The situation became worst when I gave birth to a girl baby. They didn’t want to accept me nor the child. Now, my husband wants to get married again. I want our PM Narendra Modi and UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath to abolish triple talaq soon,” added the victim

In another incident from UP, a woman alleged that her husband who lives in New Zealand gave her triple talaq over and was later attacked by her in-laws with acid.

Few days back, general secretary of All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) Maulana Wali Rehmani had said that the board has decided to issue a code of conduct and will socially boycott those who will pronounce talaq without the Islamic law reasons.
