If Things Work Out, Congress Might Soon Have Its Own ‘Modi’

Pathak, who has already contested a Lok Sabha and an assembly election previously, believes BJP has failed to meet the expectations of public.

What’s the cost of looking like Prime Minister Narendra Modi? There’s a possibility people might nag you with that dreaded question, Acche Din kab aanewale hai? Or they might end up asking about soaring petrol prices. Just small price to pay for such an honour, right?

But Saharanpur’s Abhinandan Pathak can’t take it anymore.

“Such questions have compelled me to come to Congress party. I intend campaigning against BJP in the 2019 elections,” Pathak was quoted saying by Times of India.

Pathak’s uncanny resemblance to PM Modi has made him a centre of attraction at many political events. So much so that BJP used him in many rallies in the lead up to several crucial state elections across the country. While his electoral ambitions are not a secret, Pathak, who has already contested a Lok Sabha and an assembly election previously, believes BJP has failed to meet the expectation of public.

“People beat me and curse me. They are so irritated,” he told the newspaper.

While Pathak has met PM Modi previously, he’s disappointed that the Prime Minister didn’t reply to the dozens of letters he wrote to PM.

Congress’ state leadership hasn’t confirmed his joining yet. The decision will be taken after due procedure and formalities, the report said.

However, Pathak wants to make his joining a big event. According to the report, he has asked the Lucknow headquarters of Congress to arrange his meeting with Congress President Rahul Gandhi.

It’s still unknown whether Gandhi has responded to his request or not.
