#MuchAmaze: How these teen bikers saved a woman from being molested on New Year’s Eve

The woman was returning from a New Year's Eve party with her husband in Kolkata when the driver of another car tried to whisk her away

Last year, several reports of girls being pawed, groped and molested on New Year’s Eve emerged from Bengaluru. But thanks to the heroism of two Class XII students, one such incident was averted this year.

While on the way to their friend’s place, Prosenjit Dey and Adarsh Tiwari spotted a car driver allegedly dragging a woman inside the car at Prince Anwar Shah Road Connector, Kolkata. According to TOI, the woman was returning from a New Year’s Eve party with her husband when she got off to reprimand the driver of the car ahead who was driving dangerously. The driver then whisked the woman away in his car. The youngsters, who were on their bike, immediately started chasing the car.

The duo managed to stop the car and rescue the woman. They were even able to get hold of the driver and intended to take him to the police station, however, some local youths intervened and the driver managed to flee in the resulting confusion.

The teenagers took the woman to Jadavpur police station and called her husband. The police even searched the area for a few hours but were unable to locate either the driver or his car.

We reached home around 5am and had our New Year Eve celebrations cut short. But it doesn’t matter. We are happy to have been able to rescue the woman in time.
