MEA comes forward to rescue Christian priest of Kerala abducted in Yemen

Father Uzhunnalil, who belongs to Kerela, was abducted in March by Islamic State terrorist group in Yemen which attacked an old-age home.

Ministry of External Affairs(MEA) on December 26 responded to Father Tom Uzhunnalil’s appeal for his rescue and has assured that efforts are being made in this regard. The Indian government came forward and assured to secure his release after this Indian Catholic priest appealed to Pope Francis and the Union government through a video to secure his release from his captors.

With regard to safe release of Father Tom who was abducted some months ago, we have been in regular touch with countries in the region: MEA

In the video Father Tom has requested Pope Francis to take care of his life and take some steps for the rescue.

Father Uzhunnalil, who belongs to Kerela, was abducted in March Islamic State terrorist group which attacked an old-age home run by Mother Teresa’s Missionaries of Charity in Yemen in which more than 15  people were killed.
